Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
A safe, comfortable place to talk about your feelings, with someone who truly hears you, cares, and understands, is basically for everyone.
What can I expect during the first appointment?
During your first session you can expect to:
- Discuss your goals for seeking counseling.
- Gather a brief history of your current situation.
- Create an individual treatment plan.
We can answer any questions you have and you can get to know us to make sure you feel we're a good fit.
What type of counseling services do you provide?
We provide counseling services for individuals, couples, and families. Our counselors specialize in areas such as anxiety, depression, adoption issues, relationship issues, trauma, and grief.
How long are the counseling sessions?
Our counseling sessions typically last 50 minutes. However, we do offer extended sessions for clients who may need more time.
How many counseling sessions will I need?
The number of counseling sessions will depend on each individual client and their unique situation. Our counselors work with clients to establish goals and create a personalized treatment plan that fits their needs and pace.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I am in-network with many major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (select plans), UnitedHealthcare (select plans), and others through Headway and Grow Therapy. Because insurance networks can change, please check my Headway or Grow Therapy profile to verify your specific plan and eligibility before scheduling.
If you prefer not to use insurance, self-pay sessions are also available. Sessions may be paid using a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), if applicable. If I am out-of-network with your insurance plan, you may also be able to use your out-of-network benefits for reimbursement, depending on your policy.
Is everything discussed in sessions confidential?
Yes, we maintain strict confidentiality with all client information and records. Our counselors adhere to professional ethics codes and state laws regarding confidentiality. However, there are some legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, such as in cases involving harm to oneself or others. Your counselor will discuss these exceptions with you during your first session.
